Deserter arrested after SAS hijack attempt in Malmoe

A 21-year-old US Army deserter was arrested Monday night after attempting to hijack a Scandina vian Airlines System DC9 at Malmoe harbor. He threatened his Swedish girlfriend to force departure and was persuaded to surrender after about 45 minutes. no one was hurt.

Justice Douglas Doing Well After Pacemaker Adjustment

Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas, 72, was reported in excellent condition at Walter Reed after a minor adjustment to his electronic cardiac pacemaker. The hospital said he was expected to be sent home later this week. He has used a pacemaker since June 1968 to maintain a proper heartbeat.

GE recalls floodlight kits over possible wiring defect

GE Lamp Division in Cleveland says floodlight kit wiring could cause severe shock. About 40 percent of units sold since August may be affected. owners who purchased during or after August should return them to GE offices for inspection. Dealers and distributors are asked to return stock as well.

Moscow reports Cosmos 420, an unmanned satellite in the Sputnik line, began orbiting Earth at 51.8 degrees with a perigee around 120 miles and apogee near 145 miles. Tass stated the launch date was undisclosed and the mission aimed at outer space exploration.
