An explosion at a salvage yard near the Y-12 plant in Oak Ridge Tennessee injured three workers employed by Union Carbide Nuclear Co. The blast occurred while workers moved aluminum scrap near underwater zirconium drums. AEC officials investigated the cause and said no major fires followed.
