Small West Los Angeles quake rocks area briefly

A light earthquake measuring 2.0 to 2.5 on the Richter scale shook West Los Angeles on Sunday with no damage reported. Residents in the San Fernando Valley also felt the tremor, linked as an apparent aftershock of the February 8 temblor that registered 4.6.

Bombs tear into detectives homes in Belfast

UPI reports night explosions damaged the Belfast homes of Scotland Yard Special Branch chief Ross Laird and his detective inspector assistant John Kyle. No injuries were reported. Police blamed the Irish Republican Army for the blasts, which also damaged a Protestant furniture store nearby.

Bodies found in refrigerator in Barstow incident

In Barstow California two missing boys Robert Lee Dixon age 9 and Jeffrey Sugden age 7 were found dead inside an unused refrigerator. Capt James K Harvey of the Barstow sheriff’s substation led an all night search involving planes and local volunteers. The bodies were located in a rumpus room adjoining the Dixon home after the mother reported the boys missing while playing outside. An unrelated note from Ankara reports Turkish jets forced a Russian made Iraq military plane to land at Esenboga airport, suggesting it may have lost course.
