A San Lorenzo man, Waren William Wadgell, 44, was badly hurt when a train struck a stalled car at the Western Boulevard crossing yesterday at 2 45 pm. The car’s occupants fled the scene and the engine foreman said braking failed to prevent the collision. Wadgell was taken to Alameda hospital from Fairmont hospital after the rain slowed vehicle at the crossing near the Western Pacific ticket office.

Post Office Starts Six New Carrier Routes
Hayward postmaster Anthony Foster announced six new mounted routes begin Friday. The Foothill boulevard area lost a daily motor route between 170th avenue and Bridge street and several routes were reduced while mailboxes can move to homes.
