Fresno teen confesses killing her sister over years of hate

Alice Richards, 16, told Deputy District Attorney Den B. Eymann she was not sorry Sally Richards was dead after firing a .22 caliber bullet into the sleeping girl's head. The twins, sophomores at a parochial high school, had feuded since sixth grade. The parents stood behind Alice as she faced first degree murder charges, with a juvenile court path and psychiatric evaluation planned.

Long Beach Flier Dies In Crow Canyon Wreck

Long Beach resident Robert C Swisher 29 died when his Piper Super Cruiser crashed in Crow Canyon near Joseph Kinney ranch. Harold Sharp and son found the wreckage yesterday afternoon. Swisher's body was wedged in splintered remains and badly damaged. Swisher had checked out of a local motel earlier that morning between 10 and 11.

Boone County Prosecutor Carl Sapp said officers rounded up all known sex offenders for questioning in the cold blooded murder of Janell Chrisman, with a possible link to prior molestation attempts on young sisters in Columbia. Resolution seeks borough form for Los Angeles government

Sacramento dispatch reports the California Assembly passed a resolution by Assemblyman Vincent Thomas to study a borough style government for Los Angeles. Hayward Festival Fetes With Parades and Water Turn-In

After a weekend Water and Flower Festival in Hayward, nearly 100000 spectators filled the 14 block parade route. Queen Ann Fereng and court were crowned at Veterans Memorial Hall as awards were announced for drum corps bands floats and drill teams. Kenneth C. Duffy former treasurer of the San Lorenzo Community church was arrested for stealing between 500 and 7000 from church funds. Deputy D A Rich ard Lynth said a complaint will be signed soon and Linford Hunts er will sign the charge after a partial confession. Duffy admitted theft on 54 occasions, mostly through four checks totaling 1405. He claimed funds were for living expenses and had been treasurer since October 1, 1949, while working as an auto salesman in Oakland.

Student Here Wins at Oakland Home Show

Raymond C. Neuendorf, a California School of Aircraft student, won the “House that Jack Built” at the Oakland National Home Show closing yesterday. The deed presentation was made by Stanley M. Dayesident of the Builders of the Greater Neuendorf, a World War I veteran who served as a B-24 gunner in the South Pacific. Neuendorf plans to arrange removal of the home from Oakland property for his wife and child, as Susan, their baby daughter, celebrates her first birthday.
