The White House announced Berlin crisis talks between President Eisenhower and Prime Minister Harold Macmillan will be held at Camp David in Maryland. Macmillan arrives in Washington next Thursday. talks proceed Friday through Sunday with staffs. Unclear end date. Dulles’ attendance uncertain due to illness.
State Public Works Board plans an eight-site tour of Southern Alameda County college sites starting 8 am at the Hayward county office, with a public hearing at 2:30 pm. The visit includes officials from Public Works Board, State Finance, and local politicians.
Senate Democratic Leader Lyndon B Johnson told top air officers at a defense hearing that the nation must know if its ability to wage war remains intact. He said Berlin is only one danger point and warned the real crisis could erupt elsewhere, underscoring concerns over manpower and equipment.

Bids for the Creek flood control project were opened with 13 submissions. Gordon H. Ball Inc of Danville submitted the low bid of 3,954,527, while the highest bid reached 5,902,394. The contract covers about five miles of concrete lined channel from San Francisco Bay to Foothill Blvd, expected to reduce flood flows. Later work will extend to TB St. in Hayward, with total federal spending near 7 million over a three to four year period.
