Over 100 members affiliate with Village OES chapter two at Hayward Masonic Temple on March 29. Schreiber leads as past matron with husband also a member. the village movement owes leadership to the Schreiber family and local officers.
Celebrations unfold at a downtown Reno rendezvous honoring birthdays and anniversaries. Attendees include John Clemans, Edward Gillespie, Dawson Rieman, K W Adams, James Conception, and the Kleines who visit Preston Minnesota with Conrad and daughter for a 32nd anniversary month. Families from Oakland and Los Banos are mentioned with dinners and cake presents.
Regular meeting at Mrs. Andy Rasmussen home 558 Sixth street installed Harriet Anglea as president and a slate of officers. Anglea will serve as state convention delegate. The Nurses Association of Alameda County meets at Fairmont hospital Day hall with Mrs. Esther Maki announcing, honoring state president Mrs. Marie Roney and Arta Lewis RN. Public invited to sign the charter and attend devotionals led by Rev. A. Davies. Lutheran Ladies Aid group 2 held first business meeting at 8493 Alma Avenue planning a May to August fundraiser luncheon breakfast and card party. Past Pocahontas Pomo Council 209 met at May McCuaig’s, initiated Pearl Simpson, with next meeting at Margaret Parr’s. Pomo council will hold regular meeting Thursday at IDES all.

It lists yardage for size 4 and a panties piece, asks readers to send 25 cents with name address and style number, and notes patterns ready to fill by mail. The spring-summer fashion book offers 135 pattern designs for all ages with a 20 cent price.
Officers and drill team of Daughters of America met with Counselor Dorothy Jackson at 21050 Western boulevard to practice for the initiation ceremony at the IDES hall Tuesday evening. Plans were made for a March 16 rummage sale. The Manor P-TA will consider forming cub and brownie groups at its 8 p.m. meeting Wednesday in San Lorenzo Village grammar school. Acting president Mrs. Roy Packer will lead, with guest speakers Mrs. Zella Davis, Girl Scout executive for Hayward, and Frank Buck, Boy Scout executive for the Eden district.
The All Saints Young Ladies Institute will host its annual fashion show and dessert card party at 8 p.m. on April 13 in Hayward's Veterans Memorial building with co sponsor American Legion post 68. Theme Lilacs and Lovelies features casual and formal day and evening wear by Economy women’s shop with a wedding party display. Proceeds aid scholarships and welfare funds.
The Sunset Parent-Teacher Association feted newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. Frank Martella with corsage and boutonniere gifts and elected Mrs. George Wilson as president for the coming term. New officers include R. Rice, James Smith, Alma La Crosse, L. Meyers, John Williams, H. Covey, Max Barmettler, Lyman Bailey, and P. Thomassen. A salvage drive for March 13 to 16 was announced to fund welfare projects. The next meeting is April 3.

Masonic Home hosts a 2:15 p.m. service led by Rev Charles T. Conrad. First Baptist Hayward presents Thy Will Be Done with 11 a.m. sermon. 7:30 p.m. sermon Men In Bondage. Stewardship Baptist Church offers The Partners of Paul and The Final Farewell at 7:30. First Church of God will discuss Seven Aspects of Our Relationship to God at 11 a.m. and The Perpetual Altar Fire in the evening. Rev C J Curtis preaches Power in Life's Darkest Hour for the fifth Sunday in Lent. Christian Lutheran meets at Green Shutter Hotel for 11 a.m. Sunday service.

Public interest in yogurt grows in California doubling usage per W B Woodburn of the California Dairy Industry advisory board. Yogurt described as Grade A milk with added non fat solids, cultured post pasteurization, low calorie and valued for digestion. It is used with cereals fruits and in sauces while often eaten plain with seasoning.

William Kilgore and wife Bonnie hosted a dinner at 106 Main Street for prominent figures in the Grand Encampment of California Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Guests included Grand High Priest Conrad Hale and Chief Matriarch Rose Hale, with many other district leaders from San Jose, Oakland, San Francisco, San Mateo, San Leandro and Hayward. The Eden encampment 97 monthly meeting followed, where Ida LaFontaine presented the charter.
Dr Joseph Sell Lawrence of the American Medical Association Washington office says cleanliness is the secret of cold prevention. Colds are infectious caused by tiny bacteria. Frequent hand washing and avoiding contact with sick individuals can cut cold incidence significantly and may reduce cases to one per winter.

Cherryland elementary parents attended a PTA program showing current teaching methods for arithmetic spelling reading and art with music via intercom. Students performed a disaster drill. officers for the coming year were nominated including Mrs Holmes president and Mrs Quiner vice president.
