Egyptian Soil Fully Vacated By Israel Troops
United Press reports the last Israeli combat troops pulled out of Sharm El Sheikh on the Gulf of Aqaba completing the withdrawal from Egyptian territory seized in October. At 4 30 p m the Israeli forces handed control to a Finnish UNEF unit and at 6 p m the remaining 150 infantrymen sailed to Eilat aboard the frigate Iznak. A few technicians stayed to help UNEF establish control as the Israelis destroyed Egyptian pillboxes and gun emplacements before departure.

Egypt Opens Suez Canal to Shipping Under 500 Tons
Cairo announced the Suez Canal would admit vessels up to 500 tons. The 400-ton Lebanese freighter Farida became the first through, sailing from Port Said at 12:30 pm with timber from Beirut destined for Jeddah.
