Glendale police seek Cynthia Brooks alias Brandy Lee on a warrant for soliciting business without a city license after a ring tone, promising four tempting pictures for one dollar. She rented a phone number from an answering service and posed as ready to meet callers.
In San Joaquin County Superior Court Betty Jean Benedicto 28 sued by husband Mark Benedicto 53 for divorce citing extreme cruelty. The case notes a 18 month old kidnapping of baby Robert Marcus from a San Francisco hospital and states Benedicto was in Los Angeles to live with relatives and is not expected to contest.
A Newark couple offers to sponsor a Dutch family after the DeMols Antoine 1 Aletta 27 and a 30 year old man arrive in New York with little funds hoping for work and housing. Officials warn without a sponsor the family must return to Holland unless a Newark contact can provide support.
The House approved the Senate approved language amid protests of a gag rule. The vote was 350 to 60. The measure touched on immigration aid and military support related to the Middle East and the Eisenhower administration.
Funeral arrangements are pending for Dr Waldron Raymon Gardiner a 35 year old Stanford medical school pathologist who took his own life after his wife died of cancer. The double tragedy orphaned three children Thomas seven Kathryn six and Diane two. Gardiner was found dead in a maid house note said life has become unbearable without my beloved. He added without her I am nothing at all. Mrs Gardiner thirty one died Sunday morning.
United Nations forces completed the occupation of Gaza as Israel withdraws shoreline forces. President Eisenhower lent support to Israel on freedom of shipping through the Gulf of Aqaba and Suez Canal, while warning that Gaza must return to Egyptian control. U.N. commander Maj. Gen. Burns reported Gaza takeover completed under cover of darkness.
In a petition to the state supreme court, Abbott requests a delay to allow a review by the U S Supreme Court. The convicted kidnap slayer Bud Abbott argues for postponement of the March 13 date to pursue federal relief.

U N informants had said authorization for resumption of clearing operations was imminent. Dag Hammarskjold was officially informed that Israel’s withdrawal from captured areas had been completed.
Hayward's first female police officer arrested 35 year old Marie Goveia at 225 Castro Street yesterday under the city ordinance against palmistry and fortune telling. Goveia was released on $300 bail and to appear in Municipal Court today after an alleged palm reading arranged by Edwina Killoran, a junior officer and former Daily Review staffer.

A U S Navy gasoline tender Mission of San Francisco and Liberian freighter Elna collided at The Graveyard for Ships on the Delaware River. City officials learned the federal government is temporarily out of redevelopment funds. Richard Ives of the Home Financing Administration told the Redevelopment Agency, council, and planning staff that planning for the central San Leandro project cannot proceed without local funds and that federal money may not reappear until June or July. He recommended a staged, 10 year neighborhood plan instead of a 250 acre central project.
The United Nations Security Council unanimously approved Ghana for admission as the 81st member, voting 11 to 0 less than 36 hours after independence. The General Assembly is expected to ratify and admit Ghana tomorrow, with support from the United States Britain France Russia the Philippines and other council members. Britain and Australia sponsored Ghana's membership application.
Washington Township hospital district will raise taxes from 37 to 59.5 cents in the next fiscal year as the board adopted a 272,500 maintenance and capital outlay budget plus 145,000 for bond interest and redemption. The new hospital on Santos Road is planned to open June 1 1958 with administration and department heads to be hired.

Washington Senate investigators heard that a Portland gambler paid $500 to Sheriff Terry Schraunk, now mayor. James B. Elkins testified that Clifford Henhett claimed the payment was made to avoid arresting club customers, and the committee voted contempt against a witness.
