Three year old Joan A. Kiefer of Richmond was struck in the left eye by a steel tipped arrow while playing in her yard. Doctors at Kaiser Foundation hospital in Oakland performed an emergency operation and said she would be blind in that eye. The arrow was fired by seven year old David R. Hoyt who was playing in his back yard.

Egg Center Will Shift To San Leandro
SAN LEANDRO Construction of a new poultry egg grading plant will begin this summer on a 10 acre site at West 137th avenue and Merced street. The $1 million facility will consolidate eight packing plants and two distribution centers and employ about 250, becoming one of San Leandro’s top employers. The Hayward plant and San Francisco distribution center will close as operations move here, serving 10 counties with 250 workers and benefiting 10,500 farmers in the Poultry Producers eye grading operation.

A 66 year old man described as a major dealer in heroin smuggled from the Orient was arrested by Federal narcotics agents in San Francisco. Quan Jim Leong was taken into custody yesterday while delivering an ounce of heroin to an undercover agent, district supervisor George White of the Federal Narcotics Bureau said.

Bandits Strike Oregon Candy Firm in Portland
Three men robbed Canteen Company of Oregon, a candy vending machine business, stealing 404 dollars and 1168 in employer funds this morning. Bandits wore silk stockings, one armed with a sawn off shotgun and another with a 245 caliber revolver used as a club on four employees. Mrs. Helen Krome, secretary, was beaten when the safe resisted. A Fox, 39, shop foreman, and Frank Sanders, a warehouseman, were struck on the head and Sanders rendered unconscious.

Torture Thief Takes 3000 From Evansville Surgeon
Evansville Indiana report details an 81-year-old mechanic being held on charges of entering a home and robbing Dr. Wynn of $3000 after torturing him.
