Timely tax tips on sick pay exclusion rules
The California Society of CPAs explains when sick pay is non taxable. If you miss work due to illness or injury and continue to be paid, up to 100 per week may be excluded after a waiting period. Partial pay under 75 percent may have a seven day wait, with 74 weekly max for 30 days then 100 thereafter. Hospitalization removes waiting for the less than 75 percent rule.
