Bee plans Dumbarton bridge route choice in surprise amendment
Sacramento UPI reports Assemblyman Carlos Bee amended a bill to give local governments power to reject expressway proposals for the Dumbarton Bridge route through Palo Alto. The plan would place a four lane bridge beside the existing structure from Fremont to Palo Alto, high enough for boats while the old bridge is raised for shipping. The Ways and Means Committee delayed action on the $40 million bridge financing to allow Bee to win broader support.
