Two young designers, Kelsey Johnson and Halston, received the 19/1 American fashion Critics award in New York. The event highlighted designers who broke from conservative styles, with Anne Klein and Winnie receiving hall of fame accolades. Johnson and Halston are noted for rapid rise and mid career ages.
The Daily Review reports the 1977 fashion awards at Essex House with Larry Kane of Raffles receiving menswear design honors and Bill Blass earning a special citation for lifelong contribution. Other winners include John Kloss, Nancy Nox, and Risa Portetti, plus Walter A. Haas Jr. The event was organized by Miss Lambert and overseen by Vogue editor Grace Mirabella, with editors from over 400 outlets weighing in on nominees.
Nancy Schutt recalls a 14 year old heirloom pendant from her grandmother as she marries David Harrington at Christ Lutheran Church in San Lorenzo. The bride wears a floor length gown with Chantilly lace, veil, and lace and pearl bodice. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilhelm Setiutt.
The wedding of Ronda Way and David Bagwill was performed by Rev. Elmer Way, uncle of the bride, who traveled from Michigan. The Rev. Way also officiated the bride’s parents’ wedding. Attendants received white Bibles as bouquets were escorted to the altar at Bethal Assembly of God. Ronda wore a white polyester gown with a scooped neckline.
Renee Andrade wed Steve Re Silva at All Swine Catholic Church in Hayward. The bride wore a white alin peau gown with diamond heirlooms from her grandmother Tule Mes, featuring a high neckline bishop sleeves and Venise lace bodice. She is daughter of Mr and Mrs George Abdrady of Gasken Valley, and a graduate of Royal Business College.
The wedding for Hayward and David followed by a reception in Fre ment featured Hayward’s parents Daniel Marringhins and the local community as guests. Attendants included Reider, Island Talsrs, and Be st Man William Behulh. The ceremony, a campus-connected event tied to UC Davis pride, ended with a lakeside honeymoon plan to the Chaewail Islands.
Sharron Morrison and Kay Blackard wed at the Neighborhood Church of Castro Valley. Following the ceremony, the couple plans a honeymoon in Angel Caraval. Parents Mr and Mrs Theodore Stookard of Murphys attended, with Jeri Morrison and Rodger Blackard as maids of honor and best man respectively. The bride wore a white lace gown with mantilla veil and lavender chiffon dress adorned with lace.
A Phi Alpha sorority, Phi sarority, plans a dinner at The Ranch Restaurant in Livermore. Mrs Kathryn Callow will host a drive to the Livermore home for a meeting to finalize plans for the dog tail party. Mrs C B Fisher chairs the event, with Mrs Francis Elmore hosting the meeting and acting as honorary chair.
