Study cites alcohol and driving risk in California holiday fatalities
A CSAA ACSC study of five long holiday weekends in 1968 and 1969 finds alcohol involvement in nearly half of fatal crashes. Most deaths occur within 25 miles of home and in rural areas, with only 15 percent on freeways. Solo crashes dominate, seat belts unused in nine of ten fatalities.
