Supreme Court rules state welfare cannot bar aliens
The Supreme Court unanimously barred states from denying welfare to resident aliens or setting long residency requirements. It struck down a Pennsylvania law denying aid to non citizens and an Arizona rule restricting federally funded welfare to aliens after 16 years in the United States.
