Textile belt may be answer to oil spills

Textile researchers at Texas Tech University develop a continuous belt like oil sorbent system. The floating belt absorbs oil from water surfaces then squeezes the oil out for reuse, offering an automated alternative to manual cleanup. Potential uses include cleaning oceans lakes and protecting beaches from slicks.
