Tragic Drownings in Delta and Russian River Tragedies
A 7 year old Hayward man Shigemi Yasuda and 12 year old Oakland girl Sage Tsushima drowned when their 14 foot boat capsized in the San Joaquin delta south of Stockton. Uncle Harry Tsushima guided the craft and both youths were pulled under as it overturned. Yasuda survived in spirit with Evelyn Tsushima. In a separate incident Carl Newton 24 of San Leandro drowned after being swept away by a river current while swimming with his girlfriend Emily Spracklen of San Leandro at Monte Rio. Newton’s body was found two hours later in 20 feet of water.

Two Hurt In Leandro Car Crash
San Leandro police reported a two car collision on Hesperian boulevard near Halcyon drive at 6 55 pm injuring two men. Gus W Slater 82 Ashland suffered serious injuries including possible pine injury and multiple ebrons and contusions. Jerry W Slater 34 San Lorenzo sustained minor scalp lacerations and abrasions.
