Displaced homemaker bill gains Alameda County backing
The Alameda County Commission on the Status of Women endorsed SB 825 to create a pilot service center for displaced homemakers over 36 who lose income and struggle to reenter work. The panel urged supervisors to support the bill before its Senate Finance Committee hearing, and discussed child care, affirmative action, and impacts of divorce laws as potential study areas for the coming year.
