Contractors in Contra Costa Seek Separate Contract
In San Francisco the General Contractors association of Contra Costa County moved to negotiate a separate contract with the striking APL Carpenters Union after a fracture among employers. Frederick C. Kracke, executive VP, said the 42‑member county negotiating committee was disbanded after failing to settle a lengthy wage dispute. A GC spokesman declined comment. The Contra Costa County association, while part of the Northern and Central California Master contract, had previously refused to join an employer shutdown of non struck jobs.
