Brooklyn Amputee Wins Major Malpractice Judgment

A six year old Brooklyn girl received 1.25 million dollars after a Supreme Court jury found Brookdale Hospital and physicians negligent in a malpractice suit. The suit claimed a blood test and follow up care caused an artery injury in the groin, leading to amputation of the right leg. The trial noted the blood sample should have been drawn from the arm and the kidney issue resolved on its own. The father was awarded 45,000 dollars in damages.
