County level taxes average seventy five cents per person

Sacramento reports county city school district and special district taxes on land improvements and tangible property for 1951-52 totaled 14,854,618 dollars, about 75 dollars per person in the state. The figure marks a 6.7 percent rise from 1950-51 while the statewide average tax rate on tangible property fell to 2.67 per 100 due to higher assessed values. County levies rose 1 percent to 307,253,658 dollars, offset by a 1.117 billion gain in assessed value, with Alameda and several counties showing varied rates. San Francisco remains distinctive with city-county blending. Cemetery fire lighting and other districts saw a 15.1 percent jump to 243,790,953 dollars, yet still only 4 percent of all county tangible property levies.
