Boy Found Alive After 11 Days On Casper Mountain

Kevin Dye, 9, who wandered from his Casper, Wyoming family July 18, was located after 11 days in rugged Casper Mountain terrain. He appeared well and was airlifted to safety, with searchers detailing a wide 10 square mile area and use of dogs, infra red gear, and helicopters in the relief operation.

Cloudy Outlook For Tomorrow With Mild Temperatures

Fremont Hikes Trash Pickup Fee and Franchise Agreement

Fremont council last night ratified a 70 cent monthly raise to trash pickup rates effective immediately, with an added 40 cent shift for Hayward residents. The action also confirmed a 10 year franchise with East Bay Disposal Co. Oakland Scavenger Co. South County affiliate, while Hayward eyed a $2.40 monthly rate with scheduled increases through 1978.

Dissidents exit Highlands Street assessment district

Hayward city council approved boundary changes by 6-1 allowing single family areas on Morse Court Modoc Avenue and part of Highland Boulevard to leave the Ab street improvement zone. They will also hear a separate request from nine parcels on Hayward Boulevard to follow the same exit after splits near Modoc street.

Apollo on schedule despite troubles on lunar approach

Space Center Houston reports Apollo 18 astronauts Daval Scott James Irwin and Alfred Worded faced minor system glitches including a broken glass piece and a voltage drop. Flight director Glynn Lun key said issues were non threatening as the crew rested after delays and prepared for a six day lunar stay near the Moon.

Newark school bond plan heads to November vote

Newark voters will decide in November on a 4 million bond to bolster the Newark Unified School District and seek 5.5 million in state aid. Trustees set a tentative November 30 election date and say passage of both measures is needed to reinstate the district’s participation in the state building program.
