Brown asks for 38 million to start eight water projects
Gov Brown appeared before a joint Assembly Senate session to seek 38 million dollars for eight water projects, including a South Bay Aqueduct. He proposed 7.9 million for the South Bay Aqueduct to lift water from the San Joaquin Delta over the Livermore Valley hills, with water flowing into Alameda Creek and toward Fremont, to replenish groundwater and combat saltwater intrusion. Water could be available in two years, reaching Livermore, Pleasanton, Hayward, and Alameda County Water District as the line of supply extends.

Man 108 Leaves 77 Descendants in Santa Clara County
Ban Jose-Nagpilo Mesa died in Santa Clara County Hospital at age 108 leaving one son, 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. Born in Zacatecas Mexico in 183, he was a farm worker his life and came to the United States after his second wife’s death.

Second crash on Mateo Span ends in death
A two vehicle collision on the San Mateo Bridge resulted in the death of ice Henriques, 49, of Palo Alto, and critically injured Edward Leland John, 37, of Hayward. Three others were injured including drivers Constantine Bykoff and Yea Clem ent Young. Witnesses say Young attempted a high speed pass, causing a head on crash that hurled Henriques’s station wagon toward the bridge railing. Rescue teams freed the trapped driver and he died at Fairmont Hospital.
