Child Linda Sue Pedigo, 2, died at 5:20 a.m. after falling from a two foot porch railing to a cement driveway at her Hill Crest Knolls home near Fairmont hospital. She was carried to Fairmont hospital after being found in shock with convulsions and later transferred to Peralta hospital, where she never regained consciousness. An autopsy was planned.

The seat stem mud guard and handlebars were damaged he was treated for a left arm injury at Fairmont hospital. He lives at 21760 Redwood road and walked home after the incident. Police and sheriff investigated but could not confirm a vehicle strike. Minor collisions were reported in Southern Alameda county with no injuries. Joe Hernandez of Alvarado was reported improving at Highland hospital after facial cuts and possible leg and pelvis fractures from a highway collision near Mission San Jose.

SAN MATEO. Steven Sanders, nearly four, drowned in an irrigation ditch near his home after curiosity led him to investigate the waters. Firemen recovered the body after an all-night search with more than 200 volunteers. A playmate said the boy fell in when he saw the rushing stream while riding his tricycle near a fence guarding the ditch. The body was found a quarter mile downstream entangled in vine branches.
