HAYWARD One of the citys oldest landmarks is doomed as a demolition permit is issued for the Villa Hotel at 571 Castro Street. Demolition to start Monday morning by Joe Ballinger Oakland firm using material wall conduit workers. Ownership and lease disputes delayed action since August 22 1950. Owner Mrs Vince Strobel says she is 75 and the building was predated by Ham Twas ham. She bought the property about 30 years ago from the Oakes family who previously owned the Oakes Motel name.
