Dr Robert Edward Burns president of the University of the Pacific died at 61 after a brief illness. He pioneered the cluster college concept at the charter campus in California during the 1960s. Cremation followed and a memorial service is planned on campus Wednesday at 2 p.m. Speakers include Dr Donald Tippett and Ted Baum.
