Union City Teen-ager Stabbed
Hayward man Charles Lewis Williams Jr. 23 was booked on assault with intent to commit murder after stabbing Union City teen Michael Envin Rule 16 four times in the chest groin and neck. Rule was reported in satisfactory condition at Eden Hospital after surgery.

Hidden Cash Box Stolen at Hayward Shoe Store
Burglars stole 959 dollars from a cash box hidden in the rear of Kirby's Shoe Store at 22524 Feathill Blvd Hayward during the Christmas weekend. No sign of forced entry. Police suspect the thief hid inside the store after hours. A store official said the metal box was hidden under a display of purses beneath a night light.
