Union City Teen-ager Stabbed
Hayward man Charles Lewis Williams Jr., 23, was booked on assault with intent to commit murder after stabbing Michael Erwitt Rule, 16, four times in Union City. Rule, reported in satisfactory condition after surgery at Eden Hospital Castro Valley, was attacked following an argument on Victory Drive Hayward.

L B Foster Co plans a 16 000 square foot warehouse for steel and related products north of Whipple Road between the Western Pacific and Southern Pacific tracks with an initial investment around 500 000. Also on the agenda is a use permit for part of 24929 Huntwood Ave to be used as an auto body shop after prior approval for auto storage in the same area. The meeting begins at 9 20 am at city hall.

Burglars stole $959 from a cash box hidden at the rear of Kirby's Shoe Store on Foothill Blvd in Hayward during the Christmas weekend. Police found no sign of forced entry and suspect an inside job as the box was hidden under a display of purses beneath the store’s night light.
