County Planners Deny Trailer Court Permit in Niles Area
Alameda county planning commission denied the trailer court proposal by C Thomas at the Niles entrance amid a south county agenda that also approved a 72 home Newark subdivision and debated Thornton Avenue as a four lane arterial between Newark and Centerville. The eight acre site owned by San Francisco Water Co. would include 102 trailers, objections cited traffic hazards and preservation concerns for a nearby historic flour mill. The commission ordered further study and directed drafting of an ordinance to limit future widening plans.
