Centennial queen brings martial arts belts to city celebration

Deep-water outfall plan for sewage faces $224 million price tag

A 16 month study of eight dischargers proposes transporting municipal wastes to a deep water outfall north of the Dumbarton Bridge. Total regional cost is about 224 million dollars through 1985 with USD paying at least 46.1 million and Livermore 19.3 million. Construction could begin in 1973 with USD consolidating plants in Newark and building a 69 inch pipeline one mile out.
