Russia Charges U S Hungary Interference at UN

At the United Nations in New York the Soviet delegation accused the United States of interfering in Hungary and other Soviet satellites. It asked the 79-nation assembly to add an item to the agenda on U S domestic influence and subversive actions. The move came as the body prepared to vote on a U S led condemnation of the Kremlin for armed intervention in Hungary and for barring observers. The United States did not oppose a hearing on the Soviet item, viewing it as propaganda while remaining open to discussion.
