Four teens rescue woman from flaming Fremont van
Four teenagers pulled a 45 year old woman from a burning van after it struck a pole near Washington Boulevard and Gallegos Avenue in Fremont. Christine Nicholson a 43 year old transient was arrested outside the Los Angeles Times minutes before Vice President Nelson Rockefeller appeared from the building. She claimed Rockefeller harmed her and her mother was held captive. A police search found a 5 inch dagger in her purse and she was booked on carrying a concealed weapon after Secret Service interviews. Rockefeller was in Los Angeles as White House Public Forum on Domestic Policy chairman and flew back to Washington that evening.
