River captain makes desert home in Tucson
Lyle Summey, 34, a river pilot born in Beardstown Illinois, works the Pere Marquese diesel towboat. He commutes up the upper Mississippi and Illinois routes then returns to Tucson Arizona where his wife lives, after moving from the river life to dry climate due to asthma. He recalls riverman kin and the river life as tough but rewarding.
