Overrule Planner Passie Sets Zoning Amendments in Alameda
Alameda County supervisors overruled the planning director and approved three amendments to the zoning law aimed at easing subdivision rules. The 4 to 1 vote permits 5000 square foot lots under certain conditions, with a year to build on previously approved maps, prompting concerns it weakens long term planning and could enable nonconforming patterns. Kent Purser dissented, calling amendments too broad and contrary to good planning concepts.
