Hospital payments listed for Castro Valley hospital chiefs

Hospital administrator Harry Blythe released a monthly breakdown of ancillary service payments to three department heads. From opening through Oct 1955 total payments were 32357.88 to Dr Joseph Coate, 54649.86 to Dr Frank Dutra, and 54455.47 to Dr St Miller Thornburg. For Oct 1954 the amounts were 4250.65 for Coate, 6544.08 for Dutra, and 6414.46 for Thornburg. The largest single payment was 7440 to Dutra, with Thornburg receiving 3603.56 and 5193.35 in June for obstetrical work. December 1954 full month payments were 1938.71 to Coate, 3703.30 to Dutra, and 2108.33 to Thornburg. Coate’s and Dutra’s peak payments appear in Oct 1955. The monthly payments reflect the chiefs’ shares in hospital billings after the hospital deducts its portion. Continued on Page 4.

Bank Robbery at Lake Geneva Nets About $100 000

A lone bandit wearing a flesh colored Halloween mask robbed the First National Bank of Lake Geneva Wisconsin at 8 16 a m securing about 100000 in cash. He blinded staff with a ruse and forced manager to unlock the vault then fled in a 1955 cream and green Dodge. The robber claimed to have keys to 12 banks and demanded the serial numbers of currency. Police set road blocks across Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois as they hunted the suspect identified as weighing about 150 pounds and 5 feet 8 inches tall.

Prisoner Escapes Alameda County Jail With Gun Threat

A 21 year old narcotics offender identified as Roger MelIntest McIntosh or McIntosh escaped custody from the Alameda County courthouse after pulling a .38 revolver on Bailiff Hollis Turner in the elevator. He forced Turner to the street floor and fled with a motorist later robbed. Police set roadblocks countywide as Turner described the suspect, six foot one, 154 pounds, brown eyes and hair.

Jets Collide In Mid Air Over Residential Area

A Navy Banshee jet collided with another fighter in mid air near Richmond Virginia, crashing into an exclusive residential section. One fine house was demolished and another set ablaze. Initial reports suggested an in air explosion, but Navy later stated the wing of the other jet struck its tail before the crash.

Explosion kills refugees in new German apartment collapse

In Frankfurt a newly built seven story dwelling collapsed at 5:35 am after a thunderous blast. About 250 refugees and residents were feared dead while 15 bodies were recovered. Bricker says Eisenhower undecided on 2nd term
