Eighth Army halts headlong flight near 38th parallel

U S Eighth Army in the west halted its headlong flight just north of the 38th parallel and turned to strike back at Chinese Communist troops moving south from Pyong Yang along side roads. Patrols probed the area with no Communist forces found in immediate pursuit.

Marines Break Out of Chinese Encirclement in Korea Drive South

United States Marines and Army units initiate a southbound breakout from a Chinese encirclement near Chosin Reservoir. About 15,000 Marines trapped at Magera and 5,000 more nearby begin a fighting withdrawal toward Kotori and Mam bung, aided by Marines holding Hagaru airstrip for supply runs and evacuation. Possible Solution Of Seven Cases Seen With Arrest

Suspect Bude Santis, 19, was arrested in Hayward after leads tied him to four kidnappings and three robberies at Lee Brothers markets in Casten Valley and nearby towns.
