Nixon to withdraw 12000 more troops from Vietnam
President Nixon announced a plan to pull 12,000 U.S. troops from Vietnam over the next three to four months, lowering total American forces to 27,000 by December 1. The move, part of a broader withdrawal program, could be the last cut before a ceasefire and POW releases. Press secretary Ronald L. Ziegler said the decision follows consultations with Saigon and the reset of the Indochina situation. Nixon aims to maintain a presence until a supervised ceasefire is in place and all POWs are freed.
