Fire Department Aids Hospital During Brief Power Outage
Hayward fire units provided standby service at Levine Hospital when PG&E cut power for about 25 minutes. The hospital’s emergency generator ran, the fire department’s Homesite unit supplied two flood lights, and officials said the standby was timely though not essential. Areas affected included Hayward San Lorenzo and Mt Eden.

Woman Injured In Irvington Crash At Busy Intersection
Bernadette Slap nick, 34, of 138 Mission San Jose, was struck by a car driven by George Nakasaki at the Highway 17 and Warm Springs road intersection in Irvington. Both drivers reportedly had limited vision due to a truck blocking the view and the collision occurred unexpectedly. Slap nick was injured and taken to her home after the wreck.
