Honor Roll Detachment and auxiliary will initiate 30 new members at Veterans Memorial Hall on Tuesday evening with detachments from the Lay area to attend. A September 27 Marine Corps Day program is planned, starting with a dinner and followed by a public program. Passes are required for attendance.

Rudy Barmettler, Hayward high school sophomore, becomes junior assistant scoutmaster of Hayward Acres Scout Troop 1. He joined thirteen scouts at Dimond-O Camp for a ten day Frontiersman Hike through Yosemite totaling 123 miles, climbing Mount Lyle with a glacier.

The Well Baby conference volunteer instructions will be issued Friday August 26 from 10 am to 12 noon at Castro Valley Methodist Church on Wellington Avenue.
