Less Than 3 Million Needed From State Aid For Schools

With two new high school campuses planned in Castro Valley and San Lorenzo the Hayward union high school district faces a shortfall under $3,000,000 to complete expansion. Propositions and state bond plans could ease local taxes if eligibility is met. Costs previously estimated at about $5,000,000 per site now imply a total near $9,000,000 in valuation changes and bonding limits. If Proposition 1 passes districts seek funds from a $250,000,000 bond program but must meet capacity and eligibility rules.
