Two Hayward youths injured in Sunol motorbike crash

Sunol incident injured two youths when their motorbike skidded along Calaveras Road after a tire blew. William Earl Kile, 25, and David Lee Williams, 22, were taken to Valley Memorial Hospital with scalp lacerations and multiple injuries. Williams released after treatment. A Fremont youth, Gary Talovic, 17, lost fingertips when a car hit gravel and overturned at Sunol Valley Golf Course. driver Frank Lombarda, 18, uninjured.

Newark Crash Hero Recovers From Truck Rescue

A 17 year old Newark youth, Dennis Brummett, is recovering from burns after he rescued his uncle and aunt from a pickup crash near Albuquerque, New Mexico last Wednesday. The uncle and aunt, Mr and Mrs Marvin Tomes, remain hospitalized with severe burns while Mrs Tomes is in intensive care. The crash was caused by a tire blowout that sent the truck veering off the road and bursting into flames. Brummett, a Newark High School student, was flown home to Newark arriving about 11 pm last night. The youth assisted his relatives to escape and helped free Mrs Tomes from the wreckage before the fire intensified.

Man Charged In Pornography Case

A Hayward man, Jimmy Alvin McClanahan, 36, was arrested for exhibiting a pornographic film in a motel room in San Leandro. He told plainclothes officers he had 10 obscene films and charged $75 per showing at parties. He is scheduled for municipal court arraignment on misdemeanor charges. bail set at $500.

Amateur electrician’s hot wire job ends in freeway chase

David Gregory Madrid Jr of Oakland was arrested on reckless driving and car theft charges after a hot wire attempt stalled a car on the Nimitz Freeway. Deputies tailed the fleeing vehicle at 110 mph from a San Lorenzo ramp to Winton and Jackson streets before the engine died when the wire came off.

Sam Lennon, 53, father of the Lennon Sisters, was fatally shot in a Marina Del Rey parking lot alley near Venice. Youthful Gunman Robs Plaza Grocery in San Leandro

A teen robber entered Plaza Grocery at 1600 Plaza Drive and, after a female customer arrived, demanded cash. He placed bread and milk on the counter, produced a pistol believed to be a toy, and took about 70 dollars before fleeing in a street car. Clerk John Mousessian chased him briefly.
