Auto Accidents Kill 21 One on Eastshore

Violence Thwarted in Florida Killing in Live Oak

In Live Oak Florida a mob threat was stopped after a Negro woman was killed and a physician helped avert a raid. The center of a farming area with about 1000 residents saw tensions subside as white and Black residents urged calm. A man named Ray Myought was shot earlier in the incident and a gunfight prompted patrol intervention to prevent lawless action.

Hayward bids for Bret Harte School addition forwarded to the state allocations board with recommendation to accept Indenco Construction Company Oakland bid of 592000 for 16 classrooms and facilities. Six other bids on the first alternate ranged to 66000. Alternate six classrooms and lunchroom low bid was N T Lewis Hayward at 287793 with other bids up to 308000. District also arranged fencing contract, planned sale of a Highland house, and reported a teacher hire for the district’s first class for mentally handicapped children this fall.
