Fatal Crash Victim Becomes 25th in Alameda County
Alameda County records list the 25th fatality after a high speed collision on a highway near Oakland. The victim, 22 year old Sheneke Wark of Berkeley, died at Highland hospital after paramedics carried him from the scene at Fairmont to Oakland. Neal Gobar, 21, of Berkeley survived with minor injuries as his car struck the divider and rolled. In another crash, Ernest J. Bhickwood, 20, of Alameda, later died after a collision on Marsh Road near Lowery Road. Ray Rousch, 64, of Maynard, was shaken but under physician care. A 9 year old boy, Edward Pittson, 9 months, from San Lorenzo, suffered minor injuries after dashing from behind a truck into a moving car driven by Frank Galeznik of Hayward. The accident on the highway occurred Thursday morning. details indicate multiple injuries and hospital transfers.

A fog bound Gulf collision between two Standard Oil tankers, Esso Greensboro and Esso Suez, left 31 dead and four rescued. Survivors came from Esso Greenshoro and Esso New York's lifeboat picked up three, with two bodies recovered.
