Stolen valued at 1315 included rifles and shotguns after a break in at 1201 San Jose Avenue. Police report the intruder forced a kitchen door, searched a rumpus room, and took four cases. A second burglary at Frank B Thieme’s garage on Junipr Street a few days earlier yielded tools valued at 906 before discovery when the homeowner opened the garage.

War Victim's Services Scheduled in Castro Valley
Marine Me. Edward T. Peters Jr. 19, who died in Vietnam April 7, will be honored with services led by Rev. Sherwood Daily at 1 a.m. Monday in Chapel of the Valley Castro Valley. He was husband of Nancy Lomax Peters, son of Brig. Gen. Edward T. Peters and Mrs Peters, brother of Rose Ellen Peters, and grandson of Mrs LK Fripp. Peters, a Oakland native, attended Castro Valley High, served a year in the Marine Corps, stationed five weeks in Vietnam, and was a member of the Rodeo Cowboy Association. A Hayward woman, 82, was severely injured when struck by a car while crossing Grove Way near Redwood, 300 feet east of Redwood Court, at 7:40 p.m. She suffered a fractured right leg and pelvis and was in serious condition at Oak Knoll Hospital. The driver, Clifford Weaver, 10, of 718 Wimbleton Drive, Livermore, faces a jaywalking complaint.

Three Car Crash Injures Child in San Leandro Incident
A six year old boy was knocked down by a car in a three vehicle crash on Monte my Boulevard near noon yesterday. Luther Hilton, 20, of 1980 Meekland Ave., was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of dangerous drugs after colliding with parked cars near 3962 Monterey Ave. A passenger fled on foot from Hilton’s vehicle. The child, Robert Gardana, 6, of 409 Brodrick Drive, sustained a possible elbow fracture but was not seriously hurt. Hilton also faced charges for driving on a suspended license, no registration, and speeding with imprudent care.
