Tragic trio of traffic deaths near Russell City and Hayward
A series of late night crashes in the Alameda area claimed three lives and injured several others. Miguel L Torres, 35, of Russell City, was fatally struck when his car stalled on Russell Road near the Southern Pacific crossing by an Oakland Lark train, with speed listed as 60 miles per hour. Sam Trujillo, 29, of Niles, died after his car overturned on Arroyo Valleiro five miles south of Livermore. Inez Duarte of Newark refused hospital treatment. Gail Baker, 15, of Hayward sustained minor injuries when a car driven by Gerald Michaels collided with another vehicle at Second and F streets. Dorothy Mott Allen, 28, and Raymond J. Quon Jr., 30, were involved in a separate crash on Hesperian Boulevard near Wright Road. Allen received minor injuries at Fairmont Hospital.
