Basil Stubblefield Fends Off Robbers In Seattle

Strike leaders reject public vote on city pay
In San Francisco the nine day walkout by craft unionists threatens transit and city services. The Board of Supervisors proposed placing contract demands on the June ballot for a public referendum, but union leaders rejected the idea saying voters are not a mediator in the strike. If unions do not place demands on the ballot, the supervisors may proceed with their terms.
