San Leandro voters approved a 975000 school bond and reelected three incumbent trustees. The margin was 4669 to 1275 with one precinct pending. Incumbents O B Henderson N B Reynolds and Charles Stone led in board votes. defeated candidates none surpassed 2000. Educators plan 31 new classrooms to handle population growth.

John Marlin, born in 1820 in Perry County Pennsylvania, migrated to Oregon in 1849 and 1852, acquiring land in San Lorenzo including 135 acres and later 160 acres with orchard. By 1878 he died, leaving the ranch to two sons. the family legacy ties to the village as Greenwood corporation plans 450 new homes on the 60 acre tract near Hesperian boulevard.

Fourth and fifth graders at San Lorenzo School will attend a 2 PM Wednesday April 12 meeting in the auditorium to view a film on menstruation as part of social living instruction. The event is led by teachers Verda Holmberg Audrey Patterson Dorothy Engelund and principal Robert Wejby. The school baseball team beat Sunset 7 to 4 in the district opener with Jene Tamura winning pitcher and a late triple by Al Curtis. The girls team defeated Martin eighth graders 25 to 20 at Martin field with Kay Armstrong homer in the fourth. teammates include Sally Willetts Francis Perez Ruth Okimoto Donna Horat and others from seventh grade.
