British win Porto Bello in bold Vernon attack

Peace Proposals with Tunis Reach Regency

Yesterday arrived the Mail from Holland reporting that the Bey of Tunis has proposed peace terms. The Regency would receive 20,000 piasters and other concessions as conditions. The envoy notes extensive gifts to Dey Ministers and even the hostaging of the Bey’s son to secure payment following the death of Mr. Holden, the British consul.

Port News Deal March 14 and 15 Ships Arrive

Reported arrivals and movements at Deal including his Majesty's Ship Trial of 20 guns with unknown name, Triumph Prize Rantone from Omaida, Prince of Orange Trickee from Mary, two French ships. On March 14 Gravesend lanes include Thomas Had don Pike from Gibraltar Buckskin Cumberland Luckey from Maryland. March 15 the ships remain and sail for the River Seaford with wind WNW.
