Robbery on Mail from London to Worcester and Oxford

Post Office report dated March 14 1739 describes two footpads attacking a mail coach between Audley Street End and Burn Turnpike at four in the morning. They seized the Worcester Oxford bags and extracted letters to Ludlow Ledbury Bromyard Rieford Whitney Woodstock. A reward of 200 pounds is offered for capture and conviction of either or both robbers and any informer.
