Work on the scaffold for Daniel Lucey’s execution began this morning in the jail yard southeast corner. By noon the uprights and crossbar were in place, with the condemned man’s cell window facing the execution area. The trap is expected ready for test tomorrow and the hanging set for Friday morning if invitations are accepted. Attorney Thresher hopes for intervention, but the governor has refused.
